School Days

A Full-Day, Year-Round* School

Our private INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL is really more of a “Study Centre”, where learners learn under the guidance and supervision of our Educators, who serve as Coaches, Mentors and Facilitators. The style of guidance will of course be adjusted to the learners, depending on age and individual need.

The Study Centre is open year-round, *except from mid-December to the second week in January. Exact opening dates will be made available as part of the Registration Process information, depending on the specific location. This means that parents can plan individualised school calendars for their child/children, so that their programme can be aligned to Northern or Southern Hemisphere School Calendars, or to own particular needs.

All our INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS will be located within private residential estates, which offer a secure and beautiful environment for our learners.

This “school” is based on a Full-Day School model, whereby learners are collected at their homes by mini-bus between 7:00 to 7:30 and delivered safely home again after 17:00.

Our Study Centres are open every weekday from 07:00-19:00, to make provision for learners, whose parents may run late because of traffic or an emergency. But generally, learners will be leaving at 17:00 by mini-bus and taken home safely.

Below is an overview of what happens during a normal School Day.

A Day in the Life of Our Learners…

Here’s a quick overview of how a typical day at “school” will look like:

07:00 – 07:30

08:00 – 16:30

Collection from home by mini-bus and arrival at school grounds.

On arrival, learners receive breakfast, based on current scientific nutritional understanding.

All learners divide into their groups (not more than 15 learners per group)

Learning activities. This may either be:

  • Academic studies: Formal, curriculum-based online learning, under guidance of an online tutor and with support, as necessary, by the Educator on Duty. Learners will sit at their laptop (included in the fee structure) This involves 4-6 hours (depending on age and grade) on 4 days per week. Learners are expected to continue with Academic Homework at home, depending on their age and grade.
  • Groupwork activities: These may be divided into the following –
    • Facilitator-led Group Activities (in-house) or Excursions (A trip 1 x week outside) – this involves age-appropriate transversal lifeskills training, sharing knowledge regarding personal leadership (spirit, body & soul, which includes the mind, emotions and will; business leadership, which includes understanding how the world of work and business works, community leadership, which includes citizenship and social consciousness & global leadership, which includes environmental consciousness and volunteering)
    • School activities: These are activities which all learners in the school will take part in, such as music or choir (or music appreciation), theatre, poetry, art & crafts (or arts appreciation), AI tools, robotics, software programming, business apps, chess and going for walks.
    • Individual activities: These are sport or creative activities, based on the individual learner’s gifts or talents. Where more than one learner is interested in the same sport or creative activity, their will of course take part together, depending on their individual schedules. These activities will either be on-site, within the Estate or Off-site, e.g. golf, voice training, extra maths tuition, science laboratory access, etc.

Breaktimes

Groups will take breaks at different times, to manage access to the swimming pool and garden, group walks through the Estate, as well as cafeteria serving rythms.

There will be Group comfort breaktimes every 40 minutes for 5 minutes, where learners will be encouraged to do breathing & stretching techniques and fill up their water bottles.

Restroom visits may happen throughout the day, depending on a learner’s needs. This may take place during academic study time as well, because the learner will simply continue where they left off, when they return, and NOT MISS ANY learning content. Of course, Educators on duty will monitor restroom visits.

Rest Times

Lower school grades will have a time to nap in the afternoon, after their lunch-break, before starting with afternoon activities. High school kids will have time to relax outdoors or go for a brisk supervised walk for 30 minutes as part of their lunch break time.

We are not at planning any ECD Centres at this point, but will, as soon as enough parents show interest.

Outdoor Activities

We will plan at least 30 minutes outdoor play or sports time for all learners, of course weather-permitting. Indoor play or sports activities will be arranged in suitable facilities when the weather is bad.

17:00 – 19:00

If you’re running late owing to traffic or an emergency, your child is welcome to remain in our care until 19:00. During this time it is up to the learner if he or she wishes to do homework or wants to sit in the lounge area to watch television together with other learners who are also waiting for the later transport to take them home at 19:00. Unless there is a family or medical emergency, we prefer it if our transport service takes learners home, because we want to respect the neighbours living next to our Study Centre properties.

If you wish, if your child has to remain in our care until 19:00, we can prepare dinner for your child as well, although this will not form part of the basic fee structure.

NOTE: Because we have Educators living at these properties, in exceptional circumstances, we can also arrange for your child to stay overnight in our guest accommodation or in the bedrooms assigned as ‘sick bays’, if for any reason your child is unable to go home.

It is our intention to truly love and care for your child and you and your child/ren are our most valued clients. We believe in building relationships based on TRUST and will do whatever we can to help out in case of family, work, business or health emergencies.
