Things God taught us humans right after he created Adam & Eve…

  • That we humans are made in the image of God, meaning we are created to be members of God’s family. We are the ‘crown’ – the ultimate, most valuable, part – of God’s creation.*
  • That we humans were created to take care of Earth, which is God’s creation. In fact, we humans are needed to work the Earth, otherwise plants can’t properly grow everywhere! (Genesis 2:5)
  • That we humans are given authority (‘to rule’) over Earth. (Few people understand that this includes spiritual authority).
  • To understand the purpose, function and meaning of all heavenly bodies – the sun, the moon, the planets and stars.
  • To be fruitful (do something worthwhile with our lives).Usually this means growing something or producing something or serving others in some other way. Being of service to others brings meaning to our lives on Earth. Simply living lives as ‘consumers’, who try to buy happiness or entertain themselves to death, results in feelings of meaninglessness and ultimately, ends in depression.
  • To multiply and cover the Earth (to marry and create families as the building blocks of society). From a biblical worldview, there is no danger of over-population: only a danger of humanity destroying Earth as a result of greed owing to spiritual ignorance, lack of understanding of how to best care for Earth and failure to use its resources in a sustainable manner. Once we reconnect to our Heavenly Father and ask for wisdom, in the name of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit can guide us to learn and discover wonderful new ways of doing our job here on Earth better and fix our mistakes of the past!
  • To master Earth and everything on it (mastering means understanding how it works, so that we can manage it properly and not break it! This includes spiritual understanding…).
  • What to eat, so that we stay alive and healthy. (Originally, this was a vegan diet, but once Adam and Eve had to leave the garden which God had planted, humans started eating animals as well).
  • What food animals should eat, so that they can live too.
  • That we (together with God and all creation!) should rest every seventh day, to commemorate and celebrate creation, i.e. take a break to simply enjoy(!) God’s creation and also to look back on, and celebrate, our own achievements of the past week.
  • That God planted a garden and put the first humans in this garden to work there, so clearly God taught Adam and Eve how to garden! (Gen. 2:8). This means that work is intended to be a GOOD, MEANINGFUL and ENJOYABLE activity, and not supposed to be a burden, which we must try to avoid through ‘get rich quick’ schemes.
  • God explained which trees are good for food and which are created because they’re beautiful (good to look at). He also explained the difference between good and evil to the first humans. (Gen. 2:9).
  • God gave Adam and Eve a lesson in natural sciences, teaching them about the elements, including metals (gold), chemistry (aromatic resin) and minerals (onyx). (Gen 2:12).
  • He also explained geography and directions to them (naming of rivers, explaining what ‘east’ means…). (Gen. 2:14).
  • God also taught us humans how important it is that he has created two genders – a male human and a female human. He taught us that – ideally speaking – we humans are made to do life together as husbands and wives, to support and complement one another. (A man on his own doesn’t really cope well! He needs help…). (Gen. 2:18). Biologically speaking, God explained clearly that a woman hasn’t been made to be the same as a man: she has been especially created to keep a man company and to help with the things a man can’t do on his own. But both are equally important and valuable! Only some roles differ, namely specifically related to giving birth and breastfeeding babies. So, clearly a woman can do everything a man can do, intellectually speaking. However, from a biological perspective, women may have less physical strength than men, so can’t effectively do jobs that require heavy-lifting. Also, especially while they’re pregnant, breastfeeding and raising children, women need a caring husband. Single motherhood and absenteeism of fathers is never intended by God and confusion regarding gender identity has a spiritual origin, not a genetic one. A biblical worldview holds that all problems here on Earth have one answer: Jesus Christ. Sadly, most people don’t have the spiritual intelligence to ‘get’ this, because they don’t take the time or pay any attention to gaining spiritual knowledge from the Bible, or through talking to God, in the Name of Jesus Christ.
  • God even taught us humans to simply appreciate our bodies and not feel shame when we are naked, as a husband and wife, in the context of marriage. (Gen. 2:25).
  • God taught the basic principle of Spiritual Law, namely OBEDIENCE. As a parent teaches a child to stay away from danger, God taught Adam and Eve how to avoid spiritual pitfalls, which ultimately would result in death. Sadly, we humans persist to disobey spiritual laws, and the result is that curses are released in our lives, including depression, disease and death. Instead of trusting GOD, Adam and Eve decided to question his wisdom, when tempted to do so by the devil (d’evil). Evil is always in rebellion to God (Go(o)d) and wants to co-opt humans into choosing rebellious ways as well. We often blame God when bad things happen in our life, but most of the time bad things happen, because we have acted in spiritual rebellious ways, often (but not always!) as a result of our own spiritual ignorance! Like a good Father, God does allow challenges in our lives to help us to test our faith, thereby strengthening it. But it is our responsibility to be aware of when our own human nature is being tempted or deceived by the devil, to make decisions and take actions that are ultimately bad for us or hurt someone else or are hurtful to God.
  • The fact that we as human beings all die eventually is the result of our disobedience to God. The Bible tells us of two people who willingly lived their lives in such a way, that they never actually experienced death! So, NOT DYING is possible – even in the broken world we live in. However, for those of us who accept Jesus Christ as our Saviour, when our life on Earth ends, we can look forward to moving to a life in Eternity in the presence of God Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit: in Christ, there is NO DEATH!

* No, according to a biblical worldview, we’re not the result of a galactic accident, genetically descendent from a kind of amoeba, which somehow – completely unprovable by science – turned into a monkey over billions of years! This rather recent, scientifically unproven theory, has only been spread over the past 150 years in Western-influenced, communist thinking, to undermine faith in the Bible, and therefore in God, as human beings moved away from superstitious beliefs to a new idol: the human being itself. This materialistic theory has no explanation for life after death, offers no comfort in the face of death, provides zero meaning for life on Earth and denies the reality of any supernatural occurence… which is the whole point of any spiritual experience or desire for a life of meaning.
